About Us
What is the Philosophy of Wicked Jester?
In a world decayed by watered-down weakness comes a spark in the dark. The core philosophy of Wicked Jester clothing brand is to stand unwavering against anything or anyone that tries to reduce, suppress, or enslave your genuine essence or independent thought. Jesters are vastly different from clowns who reduces themselves for the amusement of the masses; a Jester mocks the masses for his own amusement. The Jester laughs because the world is full of fools. The Wicked Jester points out hypocrisy, stands opposed to ignorance, mocks the mockers, pokes fun at authoritarians and breaks chains.
We are atypical religious and atypical political; our only religious bend is self-mastery and our only political persuasion is self-sovereignty. We are pro-America, but we are old school patriots, meaning we harbor a "don't tread on me" type of existence - we don't seek to be governed outside of our own autonomy or self-sovereignty. We're not trying to fit in, and we are for people who don’t care to.
If you are sick of tiptoeing around weak peoples’ feelings, or if you have a dark sense of humor, then you're in the right place! We are the wolves in wolves clothing! We bend no knee to anyone and will never offer any fucking apology in our mission!
What is Infernus?
Infernus is a sister brand of Wicked Jester. Unlike the text-focused designs of WJ, Infernus is primarily an art-forward driven brand. Infernus designs are dark in nature and use many visual metaphors, often juxtaposing opposing dualities. We honor life by accepting that death is inevitable; we honor a death that is deserved, but never a life that is wasted. Just as the moon has a light side everyone sees and a dark side hidden from view, we unapologetically bring our darkness into the light. We ask that our art be interpreted just as you would that of a horror movie: as merely thrilling, and art for art sake.
Is Infernus Satanic? No. We just love dark humor, dark art, and powerful symbology. Like wolves we don’t flock to the comfort of large herds, and like bats we see beauty in the dark. We are not for the timid or for the superstitious, and defiantly not for the weak and fearful. We are not trying to be accepted by everyone, and we are defiantly not a brand for everyone. We are for people who enjoy dark imagery; it's really that simple. We are "Made in Hell and Forged in Darkness," but we also use many terms as metaphors (e.g. sometimes even using "Hell" as a metaphor for pain, and overcoming it). We highlight many religious archetypes and "old gods" in our works, but these archetypical deities are meant to be emulated, not idolized.
Our themes are dark, because some people, present company included, can see beauty in darkness. How can you know sweet without the contrast of sour? How can you respect life without a looming scythe? We are the reaper’s messengers sent to remind you to live life to the fullest. We are both the beauty blooming in the shadows and the scythe gleaning in the darkness. Don’t waste your life, fear death, or become burdened by worry, but always, always, always, Memento Mori.
Who is Thorin Wolfheart, and who is this “Devil’s Advocate” character?
Thorin is the founder of Wicked Jester, and he writes over 80% of the phrases found on all Wicked Jester apparel. He has written many books on self-autonomy, acquiring and fostering personal power, critical thinking, and living unchained and free. The ‘Devil’s Advocate’ is a colorful and theatric persona that he dons in his video posts, which are short and punchy excerpts from his books (both past and forthcoming). He is a modern day rebellious-mined philosopher with many contrarian points of view. The mask is merely a visual metaphor for his often, opposing, perspectives.
Isn’t Thorin just another voice trying to convince me of something, or trying to steer me down a path that HE feels is right? Not at all. Thorin doesn’t preach religion, or advocate for any political party; he focuses on strengthening the individual spirit, and encourages a “Think for yourself” mentality. Although Thorin’s works are multi-faceted he does have a set of foundational tenants: the fostering of self-respect; encouraging people to develop their own personal power; to become strong enough to shed the burdens and expectations (chains) assigned to them by others; to stand unapologetically free, and most of all, to become who you truly are. In Thorin’s mind there is no place for passivity, wallowing in a perpetual state of victimhood, excuse-making, or offering apologies merely for being who you truly are. Above all Thorin encourages an unbridled state of pure autonomy.
Thorin advocates for an assertive ‘Wolf’ mentality which stands diametrically opposed to passive obedient ‘sheep’ dogma. Whereas fear-mongers use fear and labels to divide and control, Thorin doesn’t believe in any supernatural devil; he thinks our unaddressed weaknesses, stupidity, laziness, passivity and lack of self-accountability are the true (metaphoric) ’evils’ of this world. Due to ego, arrogance, or ignorance, nearly everyone around us seeks to control, influence, or persuade us in some way. Thorin seeks to eradicate these persuasions and shed a light on many manipulative and psychological tactics. He is a chain breaker, not a chain maker.
Thorin will challenge your assumptions, kick away your crutches, and not only challenge what you think, but challenge you TO think. Whereas others seek to persuade, Thorin seeks to dissuade. His mission is to unwrap the chains that bind the herd creatures, and set free the powerful autonomous individual hidden beneath them. Just as a blade of grass can eventually find its way through concrete, even Thorin’s words move toward the light… even if starting from the darkest of depths.
